Pathfinders is a worldwide, Christian-based youth organization for ages 10-15, offering adventure, leadership training, and faith-building activities. It is sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church but welcomes young people from all backgrounds.
Any young person between the ages of 10 and 15 is welcome to join. You do not have to be a Seventh-day Adventist to participate. We encourage all youth who enjoy outdoor activities, learning new skills, and growing spiritually to be part of the club.
Pathfinders engage in outdoor adventures like camping, hiking, and survival training while earning honors in skills such as first aid, cooking, and knot tying. They grow spiritually through Bible study, worship, and service projects, while leadership training and teamwork challenges prepare them for greater responsibilities. Fun events like fairs, camporees, and drill team competitions add excitement and fellowship to their journey.
Pathfinder clubs typically meet once a week or biweekly, depending on the club schedule. We also have special events such as weekend campouts, service projects, and regional gatherings throughout the year.
Yes! Pathfinders wear uniforms to represent their commitment to the club. The Class A dress uniform is worn for formal events, while the Class B field uniform (a club t-shirt and jeans) is used for casual meetings and activities.
There is a small membership fee that helps cover supplies, uniforms, and activity costs. Additional fees may apply for campouts and special trips. However, we strive to keep costs affordable and may offer sponsorship opportunities for families in need.
While it’s not required, parent involvement is highly encouraged! Parents can volunteer as staff, chaperones, or helpers during events and campouts. Their support makes a huge difference in the success of the club.
Yes, in some ways! Like Scouts, Pathfinders focus on outdoor skills, leadership, and personal growth. However, Pathfinders also emphasize spiritual development and Christian service.
Yes! Pathfinders advance through different levels each year, completing requirements to earn badges and honors that recognize their achievements. The progression begins with Friend for 10-year-olds, followed by Companion at 11, Explorer at 12, Ranger at 13, Voyager at 14, and culminates with Guide at 15. Each level builds on the previous one, encouraging personal growth, leadership, and skill development as Pathfinders prepare for greater responsibilities.
An honor is an achievement earned by completing hands-on activities in a specific area of interest, such as first aid, camping, swimming, photography, and many more. Honors help Pathfinders learn new skills and develop their talents.
A Camporee is a large outdoor gathering of Pathfinder clubs from different regions. It includes camping, competitions, worship services, and skill-based challenges. It’s one of the most exciting events of the Pathfinder experience!
Once a Pathfinder turns 16, they can transition into the Teen Leadership Training (TLT) program or begin working towards becoming a Master Guide. These programs allow older youth to take on leadership roles within the club, mentor younger Pathfinders, and develop advanced skills in ministry, outdoor survival, and team management. Many former Pathfinders continue to serve as club staff or leaders, helping to guide the next generation.
